In 2005, we launched Smart Express as a solution to the lack of high-quality moving and delivery services in the Auckland region. In the years since then, we have continuously filled the gaps within New Zealand’s moving and delivery industry. Now, we rank as one of New Zealand’s premier moving, delivery and logistics companies, as we serve Residential, Commercial, Office Moves, Retirement, and Warehousing sectors. 

We strive to make our services and information available and accessible to all individuals; however, here are a few of our frequently asked questions. 

How far in advance should I book my move?
We recommend booking at least 4-6 weeks ahead, especially in busy months. But don’t worry, we have plenty of teams and vehicles to accommodate last-minute moves too!

How much will it cost to move?
We charge based on the time it takes to move, from when our truck arrives to when we finish unloading. There’s also a small call-out fee, but no hidden costs.

What if I’m moving out of town? (e.g. Auckland to Mangawhai)
For long-distance moves, we charge hourly for loading and unloading, plus a set travel fee. Our team can visit and give you a fixed price for the move and any additional services like packing. 

What should I prepare for moving day?
Pack your belongings in advance, label boxes by room, and keep important items (like toiletries or essentials for the first night) handy.  Also, make sure there’s easy access for the movers. Don’t forget to care for your pets and plants!

Should I pack myself or hire movers?
Packing yourself can save money, but if you are short on time or have fragile or valuable items, our professionals can pack them safely for you. it’s especially helpful for bulky or fragile items.

When should I empty the fridge? 
We’ll load the fridge last so it comes off first, and you can plug it back in at your new home right away.

How can we make sure everything goes to the right rooms at delivery?
To make things easier, clearly label all your boxes with a marker (e.g. B1 for bedroom 1). It also helps to provide a floor plan of your new home. You can place labels on the doors (like B1 for bedroom 1) to avoid confusion. Regular communication with your moving team and building a good relationship helps ensure everything goes smoothly on delivery.

Can the moving company help with unpacking as well?
Yes, we offer unpacking services to help you settle into your new home. Our team will unpack your boxes and set up your furniture for you, just let us know!

Do I need to take care of parking or permits for parking the moving truck?
Yes, check if you need a parking permit, especially in busy areas. In residential areas, it’s usually enough to secure a space and notify your neighbours.
