This section sets out to explain insurance options for residential house moves and The Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017 in relation to house moves. While we do take every care with your goods, accidents can and do happen. It is important that all private individual customers understand the following:
Insurance is not included for Household Goods and Personal Effects.
Please note our prices do not include insurance cover. Our delivery service is carried at the Owner’s Risk (no insurance) as defined by The Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017.
“All goods are carried at owner’s risk. This means that we ( the carrier) will pay no compensation if the goods are lost or damaged, unless we (the carrier) intentionally loses or damages them.”
Insurance Cover options.
Smart Express strongly recommends to all customers to ensure there is adequate insurance cover in place for house moves. While every care is taken when transporting good things can occasionally go wrong. For this reason Smart Express advises customers to ensure that the best way to protect from this happening is to talk your Home & Contents Insurance provider and ask for specific Transit Cover for the duration of the move. Most home and contents policies do not specifically cover goods in transit as part of a house move although cover can be added for a small additional premium.
Alternatively, we can arrange for NZI Transit Insurance on your behalf through our Insurance broker. If you don’t wish to take out your own insurance, you are acknowledging and accepting that you are using our services ” At Owner’s risk” as defined by The Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017.
