In 2005, we launched Smart Express as a solution to the lack of high-quality moving and delivery services in the Auckland region. In the years since then, we have continuously filled the gaps within New Zealand’s moving and delivery industry. Now, we rank as one of New Zealand’s premium moving, delivery and logistics companies, as we serve Residential, Commercial, Office Moves, Retirement, and Warehousing sectors.
We strive to make our services and information available and accessible to all individuals; however, here are a few of our frequently asked questions. If you cannot find an answer to your inquiry, please contact us at 09 22 22 555 or via email info@smartexpress.co.nz.
We provide simple essential to full-service moving, including packing, unpacking, furniture disassembly/ reassembly. and even short-term storage. Let us know your needs, and we’ll tailor the service to suit you.
We recommend booking at least 4-6 weeks ahead, especially in busy months. But don’t worry, we have plenty of teams and vehicles to accommodate last-minute moves too!
We charge base on the time it takes to move, from when our truck arrives to when we finish unloading. There’s also a small call-out fee, but no hidden cost
We provide a full quote upfront, so you’ll know exactly what you are paying for.
Pack your belongings in advance, label boxes by room, and keep important items (like toiletries or essentials for the first night) handy. Also, make sure there’s easy access for the movers. Don’t forget to care for your pets and plants!
We can’t move hazardous materials (like paints or flammable liquids), illegal items, live plants, or perishable food. If you’re unsure about something, just ask!
Yes! We offer packing services. You can either get packing materials from us by clicking here and pack yourself, or our team can handle everything, including packing, loading, and unloading in one go.
Packing yourself can save money, but if you are short on time or have fragile or valuable items, our professional pack and move team can pack them safely for you. It’s especially helpful for bulky or fragile items.
It depends on the size of your home and distance. We can give you an estimate based on your move’s details.
For delicate items, we recommend our packing services. If you have extremely valuable things, consider transport them separately and let us know when booking the move.
Our trucks are covered by public liability insurance for property damage. We recommend checking with your insurer for coverage on your belongings, or we can provide moving insurance if needed.
If any damage occurs, we’ll help you file a claim. We take great care, but in the rare case something goes wrong, we’re here to assist.
Let us know as soon as possible, and we’ll try to accommodate you. There may be a rescheduling fee if the change is last minute.
Start planning early! We’ll create a customised plan for your move, and we suggest keeping a list of important items to bring with you during the move.
Our team will take care of disassembling any large furniture that doesn’t fit through doors. If you prefer to do it yourself, just let us know!
It’s not necessary to empty drawers, but they’re heavy, it’s best to lighten the load or pack them in boxes
We’ll load the fridge last so it comes off first, and you can plug it back in at your new home right away.
Keep pets in their carriers with you. For plants, it’s best to transport them in your car to keep them safe, otherwise have the bases in boxes to keep them stable.
Yes, we offer unpacking services to help you settle into your new home. Our team will unpack your boxes and set up your furniture for you, just let us know!
No problem if you can’t be there! Just let us know what’s staying behind, and we’ll handle the rest. A quick check before the movers depart ensure everything is sorted.
We’ll notify you if there are any delays. Our goal is to stay on schedule and minimise any disruption to your day.
Let us know at the time of booking and we will recommend best practice and things you need to consider.
To make things easier, clearly label all your boxes with a marker (e.g. B1 bedroom 1). It also helps to provide a floor plan of your new home. You can place labels on the door (like B1 for bedroom 1) to avoid confusion. Regular communication with your moving team and building a good relationship helps ensure everything goes smoothly on delivery.
Yes! We offer GPS tracking for long-distance moves so you can keep an eye on your belongings’ progress. We will keep you updated throughout the move.
We recommend updating your address with utility companies, your bank, and other important services at least two weeks before your move. You can also fill out a change of address form with NZ Post to forward your mail.
Moving can be stressful, but we’re here to make it as easy as possible on the moving day. The more organised you are beforehand, the smoother it will go. Make a list of things to discuss with your moving team, including your expectations for delivery. Starting early and letting us take care of the heaving lifting will help reduce stress.
To help us make your move go smoothly, please provide as much information as possible about access to both your current and new residences—things like parking, driveway access, overhanging trees or wires, and roof height. This will allow us to plan the best approach and keep everything on schedule.
Let us know in advance, and we can explore options like lifting it over a balcony (following safety guidelines)
Yes! We handle office, warehouse, and business moves. We have a large team across Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, and a partner network across other New Zealand cities.
